The New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy marching band is on its way to the nation's capital for the Fourth of July.

In two weeks, the band will march down Constitution Avenue in Washington, D.C. as part of the National Independence Day Parade.

Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana invited the band to be in the parade.

Cassidy pointed out, "Huey Long used to march through the middle of Manhattan carrying a baton in front of LSU's band."

He said he's not sure the Academy is going to let him carry the baton.
