The New Orleans Police Department is one step closer to finding a new Superintendent.

The department has closed the application window and are now looking at 27 possible candidates.

The search is being led by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, who Mayor LaToya Cantrell says is helping the city make an "informed decision" that is best for the community.

The candidates will now go through several rounds of screening to determine the semifinalists.
