Residents of parts of New Orleans and Metairie are keeping an eye on their pets because of the increasing coyote population in the area.
The wild canines have been sighted recently near City Park and Lake Pontchartrain.
In Metairie's Avron area, neighbors are reporting the disappearance of several cats, fearing that coyotes may have carried them off.
An animal nuisance expert says euthanizing the coyotes is the only viable option. Because of their potential as a rabies vector, relocating them isn't the answer.
