Goodwill plans to open a new store in the former Lowe's in New Orleans East.
A press release announced that Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana had bought the former Lowe's Home Improvement store on Read Boulevard at I-10, which has been closed since 2019.
The new Goodwill will include an outlet store, a retail store, a warehouse, and other operations. An opening date wasn't announced.
City Councilman Oliver Thomas says he hopes other retailers will help revitalize his district.
