Firefighters in Jefferson Parish say a raise in starting pay is long overdue.
The Kenner Firefighters Association yesterday publicly called for more funding to boost pay.
The KFA president says starting pay is less than $9 an hour, and it hasn't gone up in 17 years.
He tells Fox 8 that's causing the department to lose people to other fire departments, and those that stay have to work two or three jobs to get by.
