The Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday is in effect this weekend in Louisiana.

State lawmakers revived the sales tax holiday, which was suspended in 2018 because of budget concerns.

Louisiana now has a budget surplus of nearly $2 billion, so Republican State Senator Stewart Cathey brought the holiday back.

Purchases of firearms, archery equipment, hunting apparel, and items such as deer corn are exempt from sales tax.

The tax exemption doesn't apply to off-road vehicles such as boats and ATVs.
