Mayor LaToya Cantrell says the massive live oak that fell down onto South Carrollton Avenue on Tuesday had been inspected not long ago.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Cantrell said the healthy tree fell over as a result of the drought combined with Monday's heavy rain.

A local arborist says human error is also to blame.

He says the 150-year-old tree's canopy hadn't been thinned, and its roots were probably damaged by sidewalk construction a few years ago.

The tree fell on a vehicle and injured a woman inside.
