The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office is working to identify a man whose body was recovered from the Mississippi River on Monday.

Based on his description, the family of 55-year-old Darrell Roberson say the body is his.

Roberson was a welder who reportedly fell off a barge on Friday night. The Coast Guard searched for him, but called off the effort on Saturday evening.

The Harbor Police took over and recovered the body around 2 p.m. Monday in Harahan, near where Roberson is believed to have gone overboard.
