Newly-elected House Speaker Mike Johnson says the chamber will get back to work immediately.
He told reporters on the steps of the U.S. Capitol the House plans to pass a resolution in support of Israel today and added that the chamber will take on an aggressive legislative schedule in the coming days.
Johnson was elected speaker this afternoon.
The Louisiana Republican was the party's fourth nominee for the job since Kevin McCarthy was voted out more than three weeks ago.
