Louisiana's new vape law is on hold, at least until a judge hears a challenge to it next week.

The state's Convenience and Vape Store Association filed for a temporary restraining order and a permanent injunction against the law this week.

The new law, which went into effect on Wednesday, requires all stores in Louisiana that sell vapes to register their vape products.

The Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control says the idea is to crack down on unregulated and illegal vape products.

The state is promising to fight the lawsuit and move forward with the new law.

A hearing is set for next Wednesday.
