The issue of redistricting in Louisiana is back in court as of today.
A scheduled seven-day trial may determine whether political lines for state legislative seats will be redrawn.
Plaintiffs claim Louisiana uses gerrymandered districts to dilute the black vote for both the U.S. House of Representatives and for state House and Senate seats.
This week's trial will focus only on the state districts.
Gov. John Bel Edwards vetoed the districts drawn by lawmakers, but the state legislature overrode his veto, and lawsuits resulted.
