Mayor LaToya Cantrell is back in New Orleans after a weeklong trip to a climate change convention in Dubai.
Cantrell and other city officials attended a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for the Mirabeau Water Garden drainage improvements and green infrastructure project.
The mayor said the $31 million project will help significantly reduce flooding in the area.
She claimed climate change has affected New Orleans in the form of severe storms, this summer's heat wave and drought, and saltwater intrusion.
