New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick says she wants state troopers to have an expanded role in policing the city.

On Wednesday, Kirkpatrick said she's asked Gov.-elect Jeff Landry's transition team about the possibilities.

She said she believes Landry will provide another full-time troop to New Orleans, with Louisiana State Police officers assigned to the city.

The NOPD has no further comment just now, since the proposal is in the early stage of discussion with the state government.
