The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office is telling people how not to burn their houses down with fireworks on New Year's Eve.

Set off fireworks at least 200 feet from buildings, cars, and trash.

Kids should never be allowed to light fireworks, but should be given glow sticks instead.

Never set off fireworks while drunk, light them one at a time, and keep a bucket of water or a hose handy.

Make sure spent fireworks are cold before putting them into a trash can.

And before lighting a fuse, make sure fireworks are legal in your area.
