Louisiana Lawmakers Pass New Congressional Redistricting Map

The Louisiana legislature's special-session task of drawing up a new congressional district map for the state is complete.

Lawmakers redrew the congressional map to include a second black majority district and agreed on it by Friday.

The federal judge who said the previous map violated the Voting Rights Act will now have a look at the new one.

Gov. Jeff Landry also asked the legislature to draw a new map for State Supreme Court Justices.

They didn't get that done, but they passed a bill to restore closed party primary elections.
