An Ascension Parish deputy is out of a job and under arrest after reportedly trying to sneak contraband into jail.
Deputies arrested Andrew Wheeler on Monday following an investigation.
During an interview, he reportedly admitted to the illegal activity.
Wheeler is charged with bringing contraband into a penal facility and malfeasance in office.
He had worked for the Corrections Division of the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office for less than a year.
