The Louisiana Office of State Climatology is announcing the appointment of Jay Grymes as interim state climatologist.
Grymes will step into the position on February 15 while LSU searches for a permanent climatologist.
He previously served as Louisiana's state climatologist from 1991 to 2003, as well as a consultant for the Louisiana Department of Justice, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and the Louisiana State Police.
Grymes will maintain his position as a Baton Rouge TV weatherman.
