A lucky mudbug won't end up on somebody's plate this year after being pardoned by Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.

The 8th Annual Pardoning of the Crawfish event took place on Tuesday in Breaux Bridge, the self-described crawfish capital of the world.

Sherbin the Crawfish was set free at a state park in St. Martinville.

The crawdad was named after Sherbin Collette, longtime mayor of Henderson, Louisiana, who said it's the "biggest honor" in his 20 years as mayor.
