Texas Requests 50 La. National Guard Soldiers For Border Security Detail

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is requesting Louisiana send 50 state National Guard members to assist with border security.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry says he'll provide the troops, though the legislature will need to approve the expenditure of state resources.

A statement from Landry's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness says the deployment will include leadership and certain equipment.

Abbott is in an ongoing dispute with the federal government over securing the Texas-Mexico border.
