The U.S. Coast Guard is suspending the search for a man who went overboard after a boat crashed into an oil rig off of the coast of Grand Isle.
Officials made the suspension announcement yesterday afternoon.
The USCG sent a helicopter and a 45-foot response boat to the area near ship shoal 87 on Tuesday after getting a distress call about a vessel taking on water after the rig strike, with two people on board and a third missing.
The two men who were still on board were conscious and responsive after being airlifted to a New Orleans hospital.
