Northshore Legislators Call For Removal Of New St. Tammany Parish Coroner

A delegation of North Shore legislators are calling for the removal of the new coroner of St. Tammany Parish.

Dr. Christopher Tape takes office today after running unopposed for the position last August.

Tape faced six counts of child sexual assault in New Mexico more than 20 years ago, but the case was dropped because prosecutors violated his right to a speedy trial by taking more than a year to charge him.

Tape replaces Dr. Charles Preston, who fired him last October from his previous job as the parish's chief forensic pathologist.
