A bill requiring Louisiana traffic cameras to capture the driver's face is advancing in the state legislature.
The House Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee approved HB 652 on Tuesday by a 10-2 vote.
The bill is intended to hold speeding drivers accountable, not vehicle owners, since they're not always the same person.
New Orleans issues tickets to vehicles' registered owners based on license plates caught on camera. The proposed bill would put an end to that practice in 2025.
