The New Orleans Police Department says a Mid-City bar doesn't qualify for closure as a nuisance business.
Several City Council members asked the NOPD to determine whether Wit's Inn on North Carrollton Avenue should be shut down because of too many violent or disruptive incidents.
The bar's security guard was shot and killed on Sunday night after refusing to let a drunken man enter. No suspect is in custody.
On Tuesday, Mayor LaToya Cantrell declared her support for the bar owner.
