A man accused of starting a house fire that killed his two sons and his daughter last October will spend his life in prison.

Joseph Washington pleaded guilty on Thursday to obstruction of justice and three counts of first-degree murder.

As part of the plea deal, the state dropped charges of arson and cruelty to a juvenile, and agreed not to execute Washington.

Washington waived his right to a trial or any appeals.

His ex-girlfriend faces charges for reportedly helping Washington get away from the house fire and evade police.
