A bill that would criminalize a widely used abortion pill in Louisiana is headed to the desk of Gov. Jeff Landry, who has already vowed to sign it.

Backers are quick to say that it's not a ban, claiming pregnant women would still be able to get the medication from their doctor.

The legislation targets its illegal use. The author's sister was slipped the pill by her husband, causing birth defects

Doctors had been rallying to stop the bill, which they said creates unnecessary fear and confusion about the use of mifepristone.
