Police Chase Suspect Jumps Off I-55, Escapes Into Swamp

A suspect in a police chase is still on the loose after jumping off an elevated stretch of I-55 and running off into the swamp.

Louisiana State Police say the chase started in Tangipahoa Parish when the driver refused to pull over for a traffic violation.

The driver crashed on I-55 south of Manchac, bailed out, and jumped off the freeway.

He was last seen making his way on foot along Old U-S Highway 51, also known as the Low Road.

After searching nearby swampy areas for several hours, officials called off the search around 5 p.m.
