The American Red Cross of Louisiana and the Louisiana Wing Civil Air Patrol are agreeing to work together in case of disaster.
The two organizations signed a disaster relief partnership deal on Wednesday.
The Red Cross will provide Civil Air Patrol units with disaster relief training. In return, the Red Cross will receive access to mapping technology from the Civil Air Patrol's planes and drones.
The idea of a partnership between the two organizations started after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, but the process finally started in 2020.
