The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans says Turbine 4 should be back online by the end of this month.
The turbine failed during a storm in February and has been undergoing repairs.
Since it's more than 100 years old, any time a part breaks, its replacement has to be custom-made.
Repair crews started on Monday to install the bearings that hold the turbine's main shaft in place.
A spokesman for the utility says that once the turbine is up and running again, the city's drainage pumps will get 20 more megawatts of power as needed.
