Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple wants the state legislature to have a special session to deregulate insurance companies.

Temple says deregulation will lower insurance premiums by increasing competition, with availability leading to affordability.

Temple's call for a special session follows Gov. Jeff Landry's veto of a bill that would have limited legal settlements if an injured person's insurance covered part of the damage.
