A popular North Shore chef is recovering in the hospital after falling from the second-floor balcony at his home in Lacombe.

Sal Impastato, owner of Sal and Judy's, took the fall on Monday evening.

Relatives say he was reaching for a persimmon on a tree in his yard when a rail gave way.

The 81-year-old chef hurt his back and broke several ribs.

He may need surgery, but in the meantime, he's telling his family from his hospital bed how to run his restaurant

Chef Sal is expected to make a complete recovery.
