Several groups are suing Louisiana over the new state law requiring the Ten Commandments to be posted in every school classroom.

The lawsuit was filed in federal court by the Freedom From Religion Foundation, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, and the American Civil Liberties Union's national and state offices.

The suit claims the law violates parents' right and pressures students into religious observance.

The law signed by Gov. Jeff Landry last week is the first of its kind in the country since 1980.
