A Thibodaux woman accused of torturing her daughter is pleading not guilty to charges.

LaTonya Harris entered the not guilty plea yesterday to charges of attempted second-degree murder, cruelty to a juvenile, and child endangerment in Terrebonne Parish.

Authorities say Harris and her fiance, Terrence Washington, were involved in a car crash in Texas in April. Police discovered the victim in the car with severe injuries.

Washington reportedly admitted that Harris burned the girl after he had sexually abused her in February.

Washington remains in custody in Texas awaiting extradition to Louisiana.
