Beryl remained a major category 4 hurricane Tuesday afternoon while beginning to show signs of slow weakening.
The National Hurricane Center believes Beryl will remain at major hurricane strength (category 3 or above) as it moves over Jamaica on Wednesday, and while further weakening is forecast, Beryl could still be at hurricane strength as it approaches the Yucatan Peninsula by the end of the week.
The track and strength of Beryl after it potentially moves into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico remains highly uncertain. For now, the NHC says a strong tropical storm could be moving toward a possible landfall along the northern Mexico or southwestern Texas coasts.
