The National Weather Service is confirming five tornadoes touched down in Louisiana as a result of Beryl.

The Category 1 hurricane made landfall on the Texas Gulf Coast early Monday morning.

Some of Beryl's wide-reaching rain bands led to tornado warnings across Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

The National Weather Service's Shreveport office issued 67 tornado warnings on Monday, nearly twice the previous record number of tornado warnings in a single day.

Gov. Jeff Landry is requesting a federal emergency disaster declaration for the sake of areas hit by tornadoes spun off from Hurricane Beryl.
