Lincoln Beach is open to new funding opportunities now that it's been named a national historic site.

During the Jim Crow era, Lincoln Beach was the only local beach open to black families.

The neglected site is now considered a safety hazard, but the city is preparing a $24 million restoration project to reopen it to the public.

Lincoln Beach was added to the National Register of Historic Places this month.
