The Kenner City Council votes today on whether to opt the city out of the Regional Transit Authority sooner than the required six-month period.

RTA provides bus services on the Kenner Loop, which extends south to Rivertown, north near the Pontchartrain Center, and to Armstrong International Airport via Loyola Drive.

City officials and the RTA agree the vote is a formality to authorize Mayor Michael Glaser to end the agreement early.

Jefferson Parish Transit would then operate in Kenner starting September 22.
