Ramps To New Belle Chasse Bridge Sink, Repairs Underway

Repairs are underway at the ramps to the new Belle Chasse Bridge after an inspection revealed them to be sinking.

The $170 million bridge and tunnel replacement project on State Highway 23 in Plaquemines Parish is still under construction.

But the contractor told the public during a weekly update that the ramps have settled more than expected.

A spokesperson says it'll probably take a few weeks for the ramps to be replaced, and the contractor will pick up the tab.
