The boil-water notice for much of New Orleans is no longer in effect.

Following favorable lab tests, the Sewerage and Water Board lifted the advisory for West Bank residents around 1 p.m. Thursday, and for the East Bank around 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday evening, a Mylar balloon struck a power line and caused a brief power outage at the Carrollton Water Treatment Plant.

The outage caused a loss of water pressure, which prompted the boil-water notices.
