Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams is defending his office's role in resentencing a number of convicted felons.
At least 28 state prisoners have been resentenced in the parish in recent months, and 23 have been freed from jail. Some had pleaded guilty to or were convicted of violent crimes.
Williams says his office's actions were necessary to undo past injustices, but he didn't give any evidence.
After Williams's press conference on Monday, Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill stated that her office will review dozens of the cases.
