Amazon is building a $30 million facility in Jefferson Parish.
Construction is in progress on Amazon's property between Dickory and Al Davis Road in Elmwood.
Amazon already has two other sites in the parish, and Parish Councilman Deano Bonano says their same-day delivery drivers spend a lot of money at local gas stations and mechanics.
Amazon says the average pay for a worker at the new center will be $20.50 an hour, plus benefits.
