Coast Guard crews are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Francine and preparing for the storm's impact.
A spokesman for the 8th Coast Guard District New Orleans says their top priority is public safety and the safety of their own personnel.
As the storm approaches, they're coordinating efforts with local, state and federal officials, plus the maritime industry, to prepare the waterfront for Francine's arrival.
Crews are standing by to carry out emergency rescues, and to provide life-saving efforts where needed once the storm is passed.
