Eight south Louisiana parishes are included in a federal disaster declaration issued by President Joe Biden on Tuesday.

The parishes are Ascencion, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne.

The declaration enables residents and businesses to apply for assistance from FEMA to help them recover from Hurricane Francine.

Orleans and Jefferson Parishes aren't included, but FEMA officials say they could be added later.
