Dockworkers Strike Shuts Down Ports On Gulf And East Coasts

Dockworkers in Louisiana and about one-dozen other states have hit the picket line.

They're on strike for better pay and a ban on automation, which threatens their jobs.

About 700 workers at the Port of New Orleans walked off the job this morning. That means shipping containers, full of everything from produce to car parts, are sitting on the docks.

Economists worry it could lead to the worst supply chain shortages in four decades.
