Gov. Jeff Landry is calling for a series of tax reforms to make Louisiana more competitive with other states.
Landry announced the proposals in a press conference at the state capitol on Tuesday.
The legislature is expected to debate some of the reforms in a special session next month, and others will need to be approved by voters.
Landry proposes a flat three-percent income tax for residents in the two highest income brackets, and eliminating the income tax for everybody else.
The corporate tax rate would be cut from seven-point-five to three-point-five-percent.
