New Orleans Moves Toward Stronger Energy Grid

The New Orleans City Council has passed two resolutions to strengthen the city's energy grid in the wake of devastating power outages during Hurricane Ida.

The resolutions aim to improve poles, lines, and equipment without increasing residents' utility bills, using credits from a $252 million settlement with Entergy New Orleans

The Council also plans to use $32 million for public micro grid projects, such as solar-paneled community hubs Officials say these upgrades are vital for ensuring the city's resilience during future storms.
