A majority of the Jefferson Parish council is calling for an investigation of Inspector General Kim Chatelain and her office.
The council votes Wednesday on whether to hire a law firm to look into "potential ethical violations and professional misconduct" on Chatelain's part.
At issue is a $10 million taxpayer-funded deal to build a brew pub.
Five of the seven council members say Chatelain's friendship with At-Large Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken may amount to public lobbying in violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
