The Sewerage & Water Board is announcing a plan to replace all of the city's lead pipes within a ten-year period.

Officials with the utility say they'll spend the next two years finding out where all the lead pipes are. The law requires them to assume all unknown pipes are lead until they can prove otherwise.

Schools and daycares with lead pipes will be taken care of first.

President Joe Biden announced a new EPA rule last week that requires all cities to replace their lead pipes within ten years starting in 2027.
