A woman is in custody and accused of stealing a New Orleans EMS ambulance with two EMTs and a patient inside.

Police say the ambulance was at the Ozanam Inn on Poydras Street treating a man for dizziness just before 7 p.m. when the woman climbed into the driver's seat and took off.

After a ride from Mid-City to the 7th Ward, police recovered the ambulance and arrested the woman.

Following a psychiatric evaluation at University Medical Center, she'll be charged with kidnapping and traffic offenses.
