The state of Louisiana plans to file an appeal today with the Fifth Circuit Court after a federal judge ruled a new law requiring displays of the Ten Commandments in all classrooms is unconstitutional.
The law was to take effect in just under two months.
The ACLU of Louisiana applauded the judge's ruling.
But State Attorney General Liz Murrill says it applies only to the five school districts named in the lawsuit challenging the law.
Murrill claims the ruling "does not apply to the entire state of Louisiana."
