Sentencing is on December 18th for former Catholic priest Lawrence Hecker, who pleaded guilty on Tuesday in a long-delayed rape trial.
Hecker's guilty plea brought an abrupt end to his trial, which was expected to start on Tuesday after 16 months of delays.
The 93-year-old defendant was accused of suffocating a teenage boy in 1975 and raping him while he was unconscious.
Hecker pleaded guilty to rape, kidnapping, a crime against nature, and theft.
Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams says he expects a life sentence.
